Yohji Yamamoto

After studying Yamamoto last year for a project on non-wovens, I went to check out the exhibition at the V&A. Highly recommended, the pieces on display are amazing, and his back catalogue is so awesome. He is fast becoming one of my all time favourite designers.

Rue des Archives

If you're ever going to Paris and are interested in underground art and fashion, I'd highly recommend Rue des Archives. It's quite literally an archive road. The most amazing set of antiques shops and vintage book shops can be found on this beautiful little street. I went to check out an exhibition I saw a review for in Dazed & Confused - "Live Alive" at the Brachfeld Gallery. It's a collection of t-shirts designed to look like the old school classic rock t-shirts you could get from gigs like ACDC Def Leppard and Led Zep. The Rodarte is my favourite!

Parisian Ra

Looking into some Parisian exhibitions and galleries before my trip to Paris next week, I came across an interesting article on Dazed Digital.
Menswear fashion week saw the opening of concept store Ra, in Paris. Originally from Antwerp and only just opened in October of 2009, Ra displays an eclectic mix of fashion, music, art and culture, all in a shopping environment. The idea is described by Dazed & Confused as a "Scandinavian Alice in Wonderland with a taste for goth and geometry, about to fight a Japanese warrior in outer space", a comparison surely, like no other!
